Dr Tony Keeble

My name is Tony Keeble and it is an honour to be the Principal of this amazing school – School for Student Leadership.

I spent my childhood living in the Upper Kiewa Valley and completed year 12 at Mount Beauty Secondary College. I completed a BA in Outdoor Education, a Graduate Diploma in Education, a Masters in Environmental Science and completed a PhD in Education in 2020. My PhD looked at the social capital development of year 9 students at Outdoor Residential Schools in Victoria.

I travelled for several years overseas working in a variety of vocations including tourism, managing a raft company in Canada, and being employed as Director of Mountain Management at a ski resort in USA.

Previously I have been a lecturer at LaTrobe University in the Outdoor Education department. I have been the principal of two Indigenous Schools in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. I have been the Principal of Mount Beauty Primary School. I have been a Councillor for 16 years at the Alpine Shire. I have been recently the Principal of Falls Creek Primary School and Outdoor School where I was Principal for 15 years.

My main achievement in life is that I am father to 4 amazing girls and the partner to a truly beautiful women called Sam who has two of her own children – yes, we are the Brady Bunch. It is busy, it is wonderful.

My core values are family, kindness, caring, understanding, patience, trust and honesty. My goal in life is to make sure more Government School students get to access these amazing life changing programs where they learn about themselves, the people around them, how to be an effective team member and to improve students’ mental health through time in nature and reconnecting with genuine experiences.
